Description

Woven from premium long-staple worsted wool, this fabric is distinguished by its incredibly smooth texture and beautiful, soft silky handle. The long-staple fibres ensure a sleek, uniform finish, providing a refined weight and a lustrous appearance that completely elevates the classic tartan check for the home.
  • The Interior Advantage: This smooth, supple weave behaves flawlessly during the upholstery process. It shapes neatly around frame corners, high-tension headboards, and scrolled furniture arms without puckering or bunching.
  • Applications: Tailored domestic upholstery, statement drapery, and high-end cushions.
As color balance and the silk-smooth handle vary on digital screens, we highly recommend ordering a free fabric sample to view the pattern scale in your room’s unique lighting.

fire-safety-information

In the UK, all upholstered furniture must meet UK domestic or contract fire regulations. Fabric to be used on furniture must either pass a fire retardancy test or if exempt, must be used with a fire retardant interliner. The majority of our upholstery fabrics can be treated to enhanced levels of flame retardant performance on request. For more information please call or email Spruce. There are no current fire regulations in the UK for curtains, cushions and throws in general domestic situations.

Why We Recommend Ordering Samples

Choosing furnishing fabric is one of the most important decisions in any interior project. While we work hard to represent colours accurately online, photographs and computer screens can never fully replicate the appearance, texture and character of a fabric in your own home. Colours can vary between screens and different lighting conditions can dramatically affect how a fabric appears. We therefore strongly recommend ordering samples before placing your final order. [order samples]

How to Use Samples Effectively

Once your samples arrive, place them in the room where they will be used and view them at different times of day.

Compare them in morning daylight.
Assess them in afternoon light.
Review them in the evening.
Check them under artificial lighting.

You’ll often find that some colours and patterns become richer, softer or more prominent depending on the light. The best choice is usually the fabric that continues to look right throughout the day.

For upholstery projects, place samples alongside your existing furniture, flooring, rugs and paint colours. For curtain projects, hold samples close to the window so you can see how natural light affects the fabric.

Before Ordering Fabric

We recommend obtaining a fabric estimate from your upholsterer or curtain maker before ordering. Fabric requirements depend on the size of the project, pattern repeats and construction details, particularly with patterned fabrics such as tartans.
